Memorial Cents

The Lincoln Memorial Cent was produced from 1959 through 2008 and replaced the Wheat Cent design to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. The reverse features the Lincoln Memorial, making this the first U.S. coin to depict the same historical figure on both the obverse and reverse.

Although most Memorial cents remain common in circulation, the series contains several valuable varieties, mint errors, and collectible date combinations that collectors actively search for. Coins such as the 1970-S Small Date, 1983 Doubled Die Reverse, 1995 Doubled Die, and 1999 Wide AM are well-known examples that can carry significant premiums depending on condition.

In this section you’ll find guides covering Memorial Cent identification, key dates, mint errors, and coin values by grade. Whether you’re sorting through pocket change or reviewing an older coin collection, these articles will help you identify potentially valuable Memorial pennies and understand how collectors evaluate them.
